Smarter Buildings

Our region is uniquely poised to lead the conversation about the intersection of technological advancement and the built environment. As a tech hub, we boast some of the world’s leading innovators in realms like big data, systems thinking, artificial intelligence and the internet of things. As a thriving and progressive design community we have demonstrated a deep commitment to better, more sustainable buildings and a willingness to explore and invent.

At the intersection of these two industries lies an exciting yet challenging new frontier for buildings and cities. How can we harness the power of technology to create better buildings and better experiences for their occupants? How can the building industry manage and use the massive amounts of data already being generated by buildings and the people in them? How will new technologies shape our cities? How do we know when new technologies truly add value, and when they are just shiny fads?
